AIRLINE NEWS

If Europe is in your thoughts for next summer you may like to know that Air Canada will be launching direct flights from Toronto and Montreal to Athens and Barcelona. Commencing 3 June 2010 (until 10 October) the new routes will be offered on six days a week with three flights from Toronto and three from Montreal to each destination. www.aircanada.com

Panama's Copa Airlines (Compañía Panameña de Aviación) will be arriving in Canada this coming December with three flights per week from Toronto to Panama City using a new and modern fleet of aircraft. From Panama City's international airport, the airline flies to 45 destinations in 24 countries and they assure passengers that all their 'little extras' are complimentary. If Central and/or South America are in your plans you may like to check Copa's schedules and, perhaps, add a few days in Panama to your itinerary too. www.copaair.com

Lufthansa is offering 'BetterFly Fares': roundtrips throughout Europe for only US$125 (including taxes and fees)! This offer is valid between all European Lufthansa destinations for direct flights in economy class. Details at www.lufthansa.com

WestJet has added six new Caribbean destinations (non stop from Toronto, but with connections to other Canadian WestJet cities, of course) to its winter line up: Cayo Coco, Holguin and Varadera (Cuba), St. Martin/St. Maarten, Turks and Caicos and Freeport (Bahamas). Complete schedule information at www.westjet.com

And, finally, a note from TTS members Heinz and Inga Jaeger: "Regarding your recent article on the world's most awful airports in which one may have to spend a night, Nairobi Airport should be on top of the list … they do not even have chairs there!"
