DAY 1 - Arrival Day

You begin your adventure. Depart Toronto to Beijing (prices from other airports available on request). En route, you will cross the International Dateline.

DAY 2 - Beijing

Upon arrival at Beijing, meet and transfer to hotel.

DAY 3 - Beijing

Your tour starts in late morning to Tian’anmen Square, the largest urban square in the world with the capacity of 1 million people. Forbidden City, located in the center of Beijing, it is the largest existing, best-preserved Imperial Palace in the world today covering a total area of 720,000 square meters. Next, the Summer Palace presents a breathtaking arrangement of lake, landscape, pagodas and pavilions, a fine example of Chinese gardening art. Visit a Pearl Farm.

DAY 4 - Beijing

Following breakfast, you will visit the Ming Tombs. Then, visit the “Sacred Way” – a boulevard lined with sculpted stone animals. Next, drive to the Great Wall, the world’s greatest man-made structure winding dragon-like across Northern China and praised as a “Wonder of the World”. This is the only earthly evidence of man visible from the moon. Visit a Jade Factory en-route. Tonight you will enjoy a Peking Duck Dinner, the no. 1 typical food of Beijing.

DAY 5 - Beijing

This morning in Beijing, you will visit the Temple of Heaven, a masterpiece of 15th Century architecture inscribed on the UNESCO’s World Heritage List. Then take a Hutong Tour. Hutongs are age-old urban lanes unique to Beijing. At present, there are 4,550 hutongs around Beijing, and the structures that compose the Hutongs are mostly residential compounds. After lunch, the rest of the day is at your leisure.

DAY 6 - Beijing

Today is a free day at your leisure.

DAY 7 - Beijing – Xi’an

This morning is at your leisure. After lunch, fly to Xi’an – once the capital of 11 dynasties, and one of the most important archaeological sites in China. Upon arrival in Xi’an, you will visit the Big Wild Goose Pagoda, a brick-tower architecture boasted a five-storey structure about 60 meters high.

DAY 8 - Xi'an

A full day excursion takes you to one of the most exciting archaeological finds in recent years – the unearthing of more than 6,000 Terra-cotta Warriors and Horses. These figures guard the tomb of Emperor Qin and are buried in the huge pit covering more than three acres. Next, visit the Bampo Museum, site of a 6,000-year old Neolithic village. This evening, enjoy a special Dumpling Dinner followed by a delightful Tang Dynasty Show.

DAY 9 - Xi’an – Guilin

This morning in Xi’an, you will visit Shaanxi Provincial Museum and Ming Dynasty City Wall. Afternoon fly to Guilin and visit the Elephant Hill, which looks like a giant elephant drinking water with its trunk.

DAY 10 - Guilin

After breakfast, you will enjoy a cruise on the Li River and are exposed to the beauty and scenery surrounding it. Disembark at Yangshuo and sample some of the many colourful markets before returning by coach to Guilin. Afternoon, you will visit the striking stalagmite and stalactite formations of the Reed Flute Cave and Fubo Hill.

DAY 11 - Guilin – Chongqing…Yangtze Cruise

Today, you will fly to Chongqing, the embarkation point of the Yangtze River cruise and embark on the deluxe cruise ship, your home for the next 3 nights.

DAY 12 - Yangtze Cruise

After breakfast, the Cruise Director will conduct a briefing to all passengers of the ship’s facilities and sailing itinerary followed by an introduction of the gorges. After lunch, you will arrive in Fengdu – the Ghost City. It attracts tourists with temple and shrines dedicated to the gods of the underworld. Instruments of torture and wild demon images are displayed.

DAY 13 - Yangtze Cruise

This morning, you will enter the Three Gorges, one of nature’s most extraordinary sculptures. Today you will pass through the first two – Qutang Gorge and Wu Gorge. Qutang Gorge is the shortest (5 miles), narrowest (500 feet), and most dramatic. The 25-mile long Wu Gorge is known for its quiet beauty, forest-covered mountains, and cliffs so sheer that the sun barely penetrates the precipices. Take an excursion through the Daning River Small Gorges, which are narrower than the Three Gorges, but very impressive. Enter Xiling Gorge, the longest (41 miles), and the deepest of the Three Gorges. In the evening, sail through the Three Gorges Dam ship locks.

DAY 14 - Yangtze Cruise…Yichang – Shanghai

After breakfast, you will visit the Three Gorges Dam Site, the world’s largest and most powerful hydroelectric dam. Towering 610 feet high and stretching 1.3 miles wide, the dam will create a reservoir that extends nearly 400 miles upstream. With swells of national pride, some Chinese call this dam the modern Great Wall. Disembark in Yichang and fly to Shanghai.

DAY 15 - Shanghai

During your stay in Shanghai, see the riverfront promenade, “the Bund” – a splendid vantage point to view the colourful traffic on the Huangpu River & Pudong Development Zone. Visit Nanjing Road, Shanghai Museum & Yu Yuan Garden. After dinner, you will enjoy an Acrobatic Show.

DAY 16 - Shanghai – Zhujiajiao – Shanghai

Today, you will take a Zhujiajiao excursion, a river town near Shanghai and followed by a tour of a Silk Factory.

DAY 17 - Shanghai

Today is a free day at your leisure.

DAY 18 - Departure day

Depending on the time of your flight, this morning you’ll have breakfast and transfer to the airport for your trip home.
