DAY 1 - Arrive Arusha
On arrival in Arusha this evening, we’ll be met by a company representative who will take us to our hotel. Here, in the shadow of Mt Meru, Tanzania’s second-highest mountain, we will recover from our long journey.
Our Lodge in Tarangire National Park:
DAY 2 - Tarangire National Park
After a refreshing sleep and delicious breakfast at the hotel, we’ll check out and transfer to Tarangire National Park. The journey will only take a couple of hours, so we’ll arrive with plenty of time to check in to our lodge and freshen up before lunch. This afternoon we have a game drive – this relatively small park is known for an abundance of elephants, gigantic baobab trees, herds of oryx – and tree climbing lions. After seeing as much as possible, we’ll return to the lodge before sunset, in time for dinner and a cocktail before settling in for the evening.
DAY 3 - Tarangire National Park
After breakfast we have a morning game drive. We’ll return to the lodge for lunch – and if we’re quick there might be time for a dip in the pool. This afternoon we have another game drive, before returning in time for sundowners and dinner at the lodge.
Our Lodge in Serengeti National Park:
DAY 4 - Serengeti National Park
Today after an early breakfast, we’ll check out before our long – but enjoyable! – drive to Serengeti National park. The route will take us through Ngorongoro Conservation Area and some incredible landscapes – we can expect to see plenty of wildlife on the way.
We’ll check into our lodge and freshen up (possibly having a quick swim) before lunch. This afternoon we’ll enjoy a game drive – the Serengeti is one of the world’s best-known national parks for a reason: vast, endlessly rolling, Acacia-studded grassland savannahs, riverine forests, swamps, and hills and valleys are home to countless species of numerous wild animals – not to mention birds. We will return to our lodge before sunset, in time for dinner and a chance to compare pictures.
DAY 5 - Serengeti National Park
Today we have a full day of game drives in this spectacular environment – only returning to the lodge for meals and overnight.
Our Lodge in Ngorongoro Conservation Area:
DAY 6 - Ngorongoro Conservation Area
This morning after breakfast, we’ll check out and head back through the park towards Ngorongoro. We’ll stop at Olduvai Gorge on the way: made famous by the Leakey family of archeologists, this fascinating site is home to a variety of tools created by prehistoric man. When we get to the lodge, we’ll have lunch and then an afternoon relaxing by the pool or enjoying the facilities before dinner and overnight.
The magnificent landscape surrounding us consists of volcanoes, mountains, plains, lakes, forests and archaeological sites – it’s stunning.
Our Lodge in Ngorongoro Conservation Area
DAY 7 - Ngorongoro Conservation Area
Today after an early breakfast, we’ll head out for a full day in the Great Rift Valley: wildlife-spotting at the bottom of the Ngorongoro Crater. Naturally en- closed by the slopes of the volcano and dotted with watering holes, the area offers shelter to almost 30,000 animals; including lions, elephants, zebra, hippo, buffalos, and rhino. We’ll enjoy a lovely picnic lunch at the crater floor and head back to the lodge just before sunset, in time for dinner and sundowners. This will be a memorable day!
DAY 8 - Departure Day
After breakfast this morning, we’ll check out and head out of Ngorongoro towards the airport in Tanzania. The drive will be our last chance to enjoy the scenic landscapes around us – and perhaps spot some animals.
We’ll stop for lunch at a local restaurant, and then stretch our legs on the Manyara Treetop Walkway. This is a terrific way to see and learn about many butterflies, birds and monkeys.
From here, we head to the airport to start the journey home.
This is a group departure, but we can easily create a private departure with the same itinerary if you’d prefer! Just ask.
